Oyaide’s rationale behind design and production of the PA-02 interconnect:-
“Available terminated with RCA plugs or XLR connectors, the goal with the PA-02 was simply to extract the maximum potential from PCOCC-A copper. With the traditional balanced-type wire structure being welcomed by audiophiles and sound professionals alike.
Its halogen-free sheath was specifically developed for audio use. By enhancement of electrical and vibration control characteristic, it provides lossless sound signal. Furthermore, PA-02 TR is equipped with original RCA plugs whose diameter is the minimum possible, allowing it to be connected to audio equipment with a narrow space between the terminals. And, for PA-02 TX, we employed ‘switchcraft’ XLR plugs, which are firm favourites with both sound professionals and audiophiles.

PCOCC copper is a material that includes very few impurities and insures very low levels of signal disturbance. Because of its low incidence of grain boundaries, the signal passes without impediment or distortion. Heating and cooling the PCOCC wire under controlled circumstances yields a densely re-crystallised, highly pure structure called a μ conductor. The resulting product, with a mirror finish applied, is called PCOCC-A copper. This highly advanced product is made possible by the combined application of high technology and traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
In addition to PCOCC-A conductor the halogen-free sheath, developed specifically for audio applications, is applied for PA-02 with the assistance of Furukawa Electric. This RoHS compliant sheath has excellent vibration damping property and a high transmitting capability, by the ideal compounding ratio of materials.
For PA-02, we employed traditional balanced-type shield wire structure and triple-layered inverted concentric structure which insures maximum density and uniformity of wire structure and infilling of internal space and preventing deformation among the wires. For its insulation material, we employed formed polypropylene which is a low-dielectric material and insures reduction of loss of signal transmission.
This new RCA plug was designed to maximise the performance of the PA-02 interconnect cable. It is made from RoHS compliant brass produced by NC machining and utilises a nano-tube structure for the centre pin to provide maximum contact area. The contacts are plated with 24k gold and internal insulating materials are made from low-dielectric PTEE to extenuate the loss of signal transmission.
