I combined this high quality main lead with AUDIOPHILE Mains Block Silver MCRU and the result is less hash/grain. A quieter background and improved dynamics and sound stage. A very worthwhile upgrade without breaking the bank.
Stunning performance for price, revealing and open sound, needs
After long exchanges of email with David he basically recommended I add this lead with the Isoclean fuse to my existing MCRU No. 27.mains lead and MCRU silver plated Audiophile block with silver cable. Both of these items had carbon infused sleeving to combat RFI. Both the existing mains items had improved my sound (see individual reviews) over any existing mains leads etc. So I was nervous to find out how the IsoTek EVO3 Premier Mains Power Cable performed being the final piece of my mains jigsaw.
Straight out of the box I could hear the impact on the already very tuneful and integrated bass in the system. The EVO3 immediately added more of the same in this area and it has just got better. I got a shock however in mid range and treble. My room and system present a slight hardness around the mid range which needs good cables to control it. Playing a re-mastered Louis Armstrong track, I found the hardness in mid range was made worse and the treble was ragged. Both issues had been solved by my two previous purchases from David. For the first three days or so I nearly consigned the system to the recycling bin. However, I held my nerve and kept faith in David Brook (who IMHO does not sell things that do not work) and in the IsoTek brand’s reputation, and all that is promised by the specifications of the EVO3 Premier mains cable began to deliver.
Today my EVO3 Premier Cable has been connected for 10 days. I drafted Mrs H in for a comparison with a well known lead costing twice as much. Not having listened to the system for several days I honestly thought I would be sending the EVO3 back to David. Once everything had warmed up, the comparison was undeniable. Using the EVO3 now, the bass was stronger but integrated and tuneful, the image was bigger with clearer placement and a slight forwardness compared to my old ‘reference’ cable which was markedly recessed. More importantly the midrange hardness was gone, and treble was no longer sharp and ragged but very detailed, clear and refined. Spousal logical can be quite cutting –“What’s wrong with that? Brass instruments are supposed to sound like that!” All of this was the opposite of the reference cable which was recessed, weaker and sharper sounding by comparison. So I am now one very happy listener of music. After all it’s not every day Louis Armstrong sounds as if he is in the room with you!! Concluding, I always say this when posting reviews here. When purchasing cables, I would recommend you call, email, use carrier pigeon, anything, but do talk to David about your requirements. He really is genuinely interested in giving you his best advice for your situation.
its a good cable and worth every penny seems to lift the performance
